One of the great joys of staying at Jasmine Cottage is just how much Audlem has to offer right on the doorstep. This friendly Cheshire village is packed with excellent pubs, independent restaurants, cosy cafés and well-stocked local shops — many of them just a minute or two’s walk from the cottage.
Below are some of our favourite places to eat, drink and shop during your stay.

Directly opposite Jasmine Cottage
The Lord Combermere is as convenient as it gets, sitting directly opposite the cottage. It’s a lively, welcoming pub with a great atmosphere, serving food throughout the week — food times can vary, so it’s worth checking their website before you go.
Their Sunday lunch is particularly good, and the pub regularly hosts live music, events and entertainment, making it a popular spot with both locals and visitors.

2-minute walk | Canal-side pub
One of Audlem’s most famous pubs, The Shroppie Fly is a historic, characterful spot set right alongside the Shropshire Union Canal. It’s extremely popular — and for good reason — offering a wide range of real ales, good food and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
Food is served:
Monday–Saturday: 12pm–8pm
Sundays: 12pm–5pm
Booking is recommended, especially at weekends. On a sunny day, sitting outside by the canal is hard to beat. The pub also hosts quizzes and regular events.

1-minute walk | Canal-side
Just around the corner from the cottage, The Bridge Inn is another excellent canal-side pub, recently taken over by new management. It’s a friendly, welcoming place offering good-value food, regular events and quiz nights, and a relaxed village-pub feel.
There’s a large conservatory and a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the canal. For up-to-date events and food specials, it’s best to check their Facebook page.

3-minute drive
A short drive from Audlem, The White Lion in Hankelow is a beautifully run country pub known for its excellent food, Cheshire craft ales, impressive wine list and well-crafted cocktails.
It’s a great option if you fancy a slightly more refined pub meal in stylish surroundings, while still feeling relaxed and welcoming.

2 doors down from the cottage
Almost next door to Jasmine Cottage, The Little Tapa is a much-loved independent wine bar and small-plates restaurant in the heart of Audlem.
Open on Friday and Saturday, it offers beautifully cooked dishes made with local produce, alongside a carefully chosen wine and gin selection. You can sit at the bar or book a table — and booking ahead is strongly recommended, as it’s often fully booked.

Short walk
Jan Lek Eatery is a fantastic Thai restaurant that’s very well reviewed and popular with locals. It serves authentic, flavourful dishes and offers a relaxed dining experience.
Open Wednesday to Saturday for both lunch and dinner. Booking ahead is recommended, especially for evening dining.

Courtyard location near the car park
The Tearoom at No.11 is a charming spot serving hot and cold drinks, breakfasts, lunches, light bites, cakes and afternoon tea. Ingredients are locally sourced where possible, including produce from Audlem’s butcher and bakery.

Canal walk | Overwater Marina
A lovely walk along the canal brings you to Café at Bridge 80, located at Overwater Marina. With a terrace overlooking the canal and surrounding fields, it’s a wonderful place to stop after a stroll.
Open 9:30am–4:00pm, 7 days a week, it serves freshly prepared food, a wide range of cakes (including gluten-free options), and has cosy sofas and a log burner for winter visits. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Next door to the cottage
Right next door to Jasmine Cottage, Ayaans is a very handy and reliable option offering Indian takeaway, as well as burgers, kebabs and pizzas. You can order in person or via their app, then simply collect when it’s ready. Highly recommended for an easy night in.

Short walk
A traditional, family-run fish and chip shop, perfect for a classic takeaway enjoyed back at the cottage or by the canal.

The Audlem Co-op is a well-stocked village convenience store located directly across the road from Jasmine Cottage. Open 7am–10pm every day, it has everything you’re likely to need for a short stay.
